Oakley & Oakley is an African-American owned civil and structural engineering company, headquartered in Antioch, California, with affiliate offices in San Francisco, Big Bear Lake, and Los Angeles, California.  The firm was established in 1976.  The firm’s principals and associates are licensed civil and structural engineers, who are recognized experts in their fields and have written numerous papers and articles on civil and structural engineering.  In 1996, our outstanding engineering of the Fox Studios facilities in Rosarito, Mexico, which included the world’s largest inland tank, enabled Director, James Cameron to complete the enormously successful movie, “Titanic”.  We also (in collaboration with the renowned firm of Zinger and Associates) provided the structural engineering for the Fox Studios Broadcasting Building, and the new Fox Studios Executive Office Building.  We have extensive expertise in the civil and structural engineering of educational facilities, including work at Berkeley High School, as a consultant.

We have experience with low, medium, and high-rise buildings and have provided structural engineering for wood, masonry, concrete, and steel framed structures.  Oakley & Oakley has performed special studies, and evaluations for pre-earthquake and post-earthquake building safety, and performed investigations for the County of Los Angeles on more than 500 public buildings after the Northridge Earthquake of January 1994.  In addition, we provided the Structural Engineering for the retrofitting and reconstruction of the Big Bear City Airport after the Landers and Big Bear Earthquakes of 1992.

The firm was also selected to serve as special consultant to the City of Big Bear Lake, California during the seismic retrofit of Big Bear Lake City Hall.  We have been Structural Engineers for Hotels, Convention Centers, Hospitals, Schools, Colleges, and Universities.  We are currently Consulting Structural Engineers for the 200,000 square foot Air Cargo Facilities for the San Francisco International Airport as part of the F. E. Jordan Associates design team.  Our offices have worked closely with the Office of the State Architect and FEMA.  Oakley & Oakley has assisted and served as consultant structural engineers to architects throughout the State of California.  Our staff of professionals is skilled and experienced in civil & structural engineering, with well established project procedures, project methods and quality control techniques for execution of our assignments.  We are fully computerized, and we have an extensive library of structural engineering software.  We strive to provide efficient, current technology in keeping with reliable and safe engineering, while assuring our clients the highest standard of care.
